The Role
They are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director to take on a pivotal leadership role, driving sales growth and overseeing the strategic expansion of the company in China. This role goes beyond being a sales leader; it also encompasses the responsibilities of a country manager, ensuring seamless coordination and execution of our business strategy across all teams operating in China.
As Director, this individual will play a critical role in defining and implementing an effective market strategy, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the overall success of the company in the region. The role will require close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, and customer success, many of which will have dotted reporting lines to this leader, ensuring alignment and effective execution of the company's goals.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the education sector, particularly in the K-12 space, coupled with a proven track record of driving sales success and managing large-scale operations in China. They must demonstrate strong leadership abilities within a matrix organization, balancing the complexities of cross-functional collaboration while maintaining a sharp focus on sales performance and market growth.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership
Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to drive revenue growth and expand market share, focusing on international and bilingual schools.
Lead, manage, and mentor a high-performing sales team to achieve ambitious growth targets.
Personally drive and close key strategic deals, ensuring impactful outcomes for the region.
Country Management
Act as the primary representative of the company in China, fostering brand recognition and credibility in the market.
Ensure alignment across cross-functional teams with dotted-line accountability (e.g., Marketing, Product, and Customer Success) to deliver a seamless experience for schools.
Collaborate with global leadership to localize and execute company-wide strategies in China.
Partnership Development
Identify and recruit strategic channel partners to expand market reach and drive growth.
Build and strengthen relationships with school groups and networks, creating long-term collaborations.
Market Insights and Strategy
Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
Provide regular sales performance insights and market analysis to senior leadership.
Industry Engagement
Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales, business development, or a similar role, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
Proven experience in driving sales growth in China.
Prior experience working in EdTech is required, K-12 preferred and experience with International/Bi-lingual schools would be ideal.
Strong understanding of the cultural, economic, and regulatory nuances of the CHINA region.
Demonstrated ability to build and execute sales strategies and meet or exceed sales targets.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in Recruiting and Managing Channel Partners: Demonstrated success in identifying, onboarding, and maintaining strong relationships with channel partners to drive business growth.
Proven Track Record of Meeting or Exceeding Quotas: Consistently achieved or surpassed sales targets, showcasing strong performance in a results-driven environment.
Fluency in Mandarin and English is required.
Willing to travel extensively within China and some global travel.
